This tool functions as interactive information architecture to help students pick travel programs based on a variety of factors. The number of possibilities and details of each program needed to be presented in a way that was still engaging and inspiring.
Venture Student Travel
UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI
SPRING 2014
There are plenty of opportunities for students to travel in college but the information is dispersed and complex. The product needs to display the information while expressing the inspirational aspect of travel.
To organize the content, I developed a hierarchy of information, with location being the most important decision factor for students. Next the trips can be divided into subcategories, then come details like dates and cost.
The final website design is engaging and enjoyable to use. Travel options are divided into three categories, color-coded and visualized on an interactive map, with filter options including price, date, and length. Clicking on a trip reveals preliminary details and a secondary page provides images and information. There are links to contact the leader, apply for the trip, or favorite the trip for later review. Favorites can be viewed at any time in a side panel.
